My journey began with a genuine love for storytelling, creating work that sparks joy and transformation. Early on, I had the privilege of working alongside the late Michael Roberts CBE. What started as an assistant role evolved into a close 13-year collaboration, where we brought to life everything from editorial shoots to film, including the Netflix documentary on Manolo Blahnik. That chapter shaped me deeply, teaching me the power of detail, patience, and timeless storytelling.
After a long-standing relationship with Michael, it was time to step into my own practice, directing campaigns for brands like Max Factor and shaping stories with intention. Then the pandemic came, and like many, I was thrown into a period of deep change. I turned inward, exploring health, nutrition, and spirituality. I found myself drawn to movement, to dance, and to systems like the Gene Keys. Tools that helped me understand more about how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. That journey shifted everything. It gave my work new depth, less about surface, more about feeling.
My personal work continues to grow alongside me. One piece that’s close to my heart is Innate Child, taken in Jerusalem on Yom Kippur, a portrait of stillness in the middle of a silent city. It later won the Best Photography Prize at Sussex Contemporary 2024. That moment reminded me that the most powerful images don’t shout, they simply reflect what’s already there.
Now, my focus is on the themes that feel most alive to me: transformation, interconnectedness, and the freedom that comes when we return to our natural rhythms. Through photography, film, and my creative platform Joy Solor, I intend to create from a place of honesty, celebrating individuality and the quiet magic that binds us all.
